About ME

I am a paediatrician, a clinician educator, a clinician  researcher, both locally and globally. While I am Australian, SE Asia is my second home. Having lived in Vietnam and Laos for many years, both are always in my thoughts. Between medicine, clinical education and research I sometimes have an identity crisis. The problem is that people see education as something we all do – see one, do one, teach one….whereas medicine and research are skills which need to be learnt. Perhaps more than ever, our education skills need to adapt to the environment we find ourselves in. Whether online in a remote, physically distanced world, or face-to-face in a world which requires us to distance. We should rethink what is normal, and think what works, now and in the future. This requires skill, forethought and planning.
